adminState funded arts company pvi collective are delighted to announce a fantastic opportunity for a West Australian based artist or arts company to be in residence at CIA Studios. CIA was conceived and is managed by pvi collective as a means to providing residencies, workshops and professional development opportunities for practitioners whose artworks & processes sit on the edges of definition. CIA currently has one long term company in residence: Hydra Poesis and believe the time is ripe for increasing that amount allowing residents to research and develop their practice in a supportive environment of like-minded peers. pvi have made two further studios available for a 12month residence period commencing late March, 2010 to 1st February, 2011.
CIA Studios provides discreet subsidised studio space, access to internet, publicity via CIA website profile and CIA monthly e-news. The kitchen and hub space are communal and accessible to all residents. There are toilets and showers located on both floors. There is no stipend or living allowance attached to these residencies. Successful applicants will be responsible for all other costs associated with the residency.
This residency program has been developed with the goal of supporting artists in the process of developing their practice, as opposed to being focussed solely on the creation of an end product, and for this process not to happen in isolation, but for it to be informed, invigorated and challenged by other practitioners, thereby building a strong culture of conceptual criticality and peer support.
For further information and to download an application form please visit: www.ciastudios.com.au or call pvi on 9228 4440.
